Complete success: Orgatec 2008 records a significant increase in visitor figures

Despite numerous crisis warnings and dark omens, this year’s Orgatec saw an increase in visitor figures of 9.3% in comparison with 2006. A total of 62,500 visitors, of which 50% came from abroad (a total of 113 countries) confirmed Orgatec as one of the world’s leading trade fair for office and interior design.

On an exhibition area of over 1300 m2, Sedus presented a wide range of new product innovations as well as the further development of its workplace concept “Place 2.5 – the new emotional office culture”, which, with its holistic approach, set new standards for the entire industry at the last Orgatec.

The “Place 2.5” concept goes far beyond just furniture and makes use of all the elements and technology available for creating an emotional and atmospheric office: greenery, scent, acoustics, lighting and, of course, the perfect furnishings.

Orgatec 2008 was the first to be held in the new halls at the KölnMesse. Sedus had a prominent location in Hall 8 and made impressive use of the design possibilities on offer at the 12 metre high stand. The façade is evocative of the high-bay warehouse at Dogern, which is now internationally renowned and an unmistakable Sedus trademark. The interior of the trade fair stand contains a life-size, open-plan office in which a complete company is housed on one floor. From the reception, through to the most diverse departments and fields of responsibility, from the director’s office with secretariat through to the bistro and call centre, the exhibition gave an impressive indication of just how pleasantly team-orientated work can be.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the highlight of the trade fair was the stand party on Thursday, where the band “Waterproof” from Aschaffenburg treated over 1,500 guests to a unforgettable concert lasting into the early hours.

Dr. Bernhard Kallup concluded, “For us the trade fair went very well. Not only were visitor figures high, but the quality was also first-rate. The internationality of our event has also developed significantly. We had visits from our partners from Europe and from all around the globe – from as far afield as Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Japan, Australia and even Brazil. We were pleased to hear from everyone how our exhibition with its holistic concept solutions instead of merely tables and chairs was perceived as truly groundbreaking and unique.”

All of the products presented at Orgatec will be adopted into the Sedus range as of October. The elegantly designed table system, Sedus temptation, which allows all conceivable configurations for every type of office to be created, a new container and screen generation, Sedus meet chair & table for canteens and dining halls and the innovative swivel chair rang, Sedus crossline, with a new “Similar Plus” mechanism which guarantees optimal movement for dynamic sitting as well as the respective visitor and conference swivel chairs.
